Our Classes

Chinese Learning Pathway

We offer a structured Chinese learning pathway for students in Grades 3–12. Students may begin at different stages depending on their age, experience, and Chinese background.

Younger students can begin with Learning Chinese Through Stories, progress to Chinese Language Foundations, and later continue into the appropriate level of the Integrated Chinese Program. High school students may also enter the Integrated Chinese Program directly at an appropriate level, including Level 1 for beginners.

Learning Chinese through Stories (Grade 2)

This introductory Chinese course is specifically designed for younger students. Each lesson is based on an authentic Chinese story. The key vocabulary introduced from each story is practiced through songs, games, and other practice activities. Students can explore meanings and begin to express themselves through phrases and simple sentences in a fun environment.

Chinese Language Foundations (Grades 3-8)

Students may enter the four-year sequence at different grade levels based on their prior Chinese experience.  The program develops four core language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with additional emphasis on conversational Chinese.

The program begins with a teacher-designed 16-lesson introductory curriculum, developed from the teacher’s classroom experience and firsthand experience learning Chinese in China. It helps students build a strong foundation before transitioning into the Easy Steps to Chinese series.

The curriculum also incorporates teacher-developed materials and selected content from multiple editions. As students complete the Chinese Language Foundations program or move into high school, they transition to the appropriate level of the Integrated Chinese Program based on their Chinese proficiency and prior coursework.
